Hello and welcome to this week's Gold Membership discussion and description.

As you saw from the video above.  The Youtube video, this video is a McDonald's commercial.  It's advertising McDonald's, and in English, we say McDonald's, in some countries, I know you say McDonald.  So there's a change there.  McDonald's commercial.

Ah, the video commercial begins by showing you a beautiful scenery, a lake with some nature, grass, trees... you know a nice beautiful setting.

And then a red car comes and stops.  It pulls up, or it stops.  You can say "pulls up", the car pulls up, which means stops.  And there's an elderly couple, probably in their 60's.  A man and a lady.  The man comes out with all his fishing gear, or fishing materials.  Fishing gear I would say.  His fishing rod and basket, and the wife doesn't look very happy.  She just looks at him... Yeah, go fishing.  So she's not very happy.

And then she start driving off, she takes off quite quickly and then she stops and has his hat.  It's not a cap, it's a hat.  A cap is the one that only has the visor at the front.  This one has a hat and has a rim or a thing all the way around to give some shade and protection.  So with the hat on the top and with the, sort of like a ledge, a little flap area, all the way around, that's just a hat.  If it's only at the front, a big peak at the front, that would be a cap, C-A-P.

So it's just a hat, she takes it. She holds it out of the car window and just drops it.  She doesn't throw it. If it's throw, it would go further away from her. So she just sticks her hand out of the window and just drops the hat and it just falls to the ground.  She doesn't place it on the ground, because that means, if this is the ground, she puts it or places it but her hand is in the air and she just lets go and it just drops down.  So she drops the hat to the ground.

He picks it up, bit dusty and then he walks to the pier or the the wooden planks.  Sort of like a mini pier.  He gets his fold up chair and he sits down, he takes his fishing basket, he opens it up, gets the McDonald's, his very happy.  Places it or puts it beside to him.

I think he, I'm not watching the video right now so, I think he threw the fishing line out.  And then the next thing, he sees something come up, and you see a big shadow cover him, a shadow covers him, and he looks very scared, very tense, very nervous, and he closes his eyes, expecting something to hit him or bit him, so he just sits there like this.  And then he hears "khung".

And then he opens his eyes, and he thinks wow, he's relieved, he's alive.  He's thinking what happened?  And then he looks.  He looks next to him and he sees a big bite or a big piece that has been taken out of the pier.

So there is a bite taken out, or there is a piece bitten out, both are ok.  So there is a big piece that has been bitten out or taken out of the pier and planks.  So he thinks, "oh, lucky I'm still alive".

Then the next scene.  I'm imagining, this is the next day or maybe next week.  Again, he gets his fold up chair, he puts it down, he sits down, he gets his fishing basket, he opens it, he gets the McDonald's... this time, he's with his wife, and he hands, or gives, or passes the McDonald's to her.

And she is sitting on the pier, thinking "oh wow, lucky, you know, what a nice husband I have giving me the McDonald's".  We all want McDonald's, because it's a McDonald's advertisement/commercial - so everyone wants McDonald's. "Wow, what a nice guy".

He moves his chair a little bit away from her because he knows what's going to happen.  And you can see.  She is sitting on the new planks, so there is the old wood, the old planks, and then there's the new planks that have been replaced from the bite - the day before, the week before, the month before... we don't know when, but, before.

He moves his chair away, and waiting, for the shark I guess, I don't know what it was, but I guess it was a shark.  Waiting for the shark to get the McDonald's and eat his wife also, so a bit of "yeah, get rid of my wife" type of commercial as well.  Bit of a funny commercial.  You know, husband-wife fighting type of thing.

So that's the commercial.  Not a lot of new vocabulary, but some - the pier. It's a very small pier. So the pier is a wooden structure.  If you go to the water - you can Google Pier.. P-I-E-R for images.  It's usually wooden long piece that you can walk out on, go fishing on, something like that over the beach area, the sea, the ocean, near the beach - so it's a pier.

The planks of wood.  Each piece of wood is called a plank.  Drops the hat.  Not a new word, but I know some people said throw, some people said place or put.  The car took off quickly.  She took off quickly, driving, starting quickly.

They're about the only words for this lesson, so... hope you enjoyed it and I'll see you next week in the next Gold Membership video description lesson.

See you then.
